Description
This was a fun tea to develop. While we normally aim to be transparent in terms of our teas’ region and provenance in order to educate and help calibrate tastes, we’re keeping quiet this time, so this tea will help with none of that. Instead, this is a tea to turn your brain off for and just enjoy.
Of course, you’re still free to analyse and see what traits you can pick out (is that a touch of Laomane I detect?).
With this Menghai area-heavy blend of multiple raw puers, our intention was to bring in all the aspect of what we feel an ideal tea should be. We started from a strong base, then went on balance out a bold body with interesting fragrances and add layers to the mix – all with the critical criteria of maintaining an affordable price. Having spent quite a few sessions getting to know this tea since it was pressed, we’re quite pleased the results.

I don’t get the people who say you shouldn’t drink young sheng. I absolutely loved this tea from the first session. Drinking it makes me so high and happy (cha qi?)! I’m not good with describing tea and often when others describe it and I drink it I get little of what they are trying to describe whether I like it or not, so I’ll just say that this tea gives me a super sweet feeling which lasts and lasts (huigan?) and I really like the fruity taste and the bitter astringency combined. I just do super quick steeps at first and each cup is incredible. Since I only paid $14.50 for the cake during their celebration sale I didn’t have any expectations for it and the whole secrecy thing didn’t instill much confidence either so I was really happily surprised to be blown away by it! I can only imagine this tea will age into something also really good as well but I am enjoying it NOW!

This Pu-erh ticks all the boxes of a quality tea. It offers a delightful fragrance to the nose, reminiscent of guabeixiang, with a touch of bitterness and low astringency on the palate. The aftertaste is notably pleasant. However, its somewhat weak and empty mouthfeel, a realization that became particularly clear when I compared it to the Eden 2019 Manzhuan. But this tea offers an excellent value for its quality.”

Nice everyday tea.
//Smell: Library, perfumed dry hay, floral, summer-end-of-the-day vibes, herbaceous, old leather
//Texture: Spicy on the tip of the tongue, heatwave that pulses in the mouth
//Taste: Potatoes cream, celery salt, hay, astringency, mineral, wet rocks, herbaceous, sautéed asparagus
//Body sensation: Vibrating heartbeat in the chest, dizzy cheeks, neutral feeling

In the mood for some secrecy, this tea seems to tick all the boxes for just the right amount of strength, enjoyable floral fragrance, and somewhat rounded and smooth mouthfeel – an excellent trade-off for everyone!
