Description
Using the huangpian material from a mix of higher level Lincang productions, this tea maintains a high fragrance and quality flavour, coupled with a smooth, mineral sweetness.
As with each of our huangpian teas for 2022, $5 from the sale of each cake will go towards supporting various causes, with this tea’s portion supporting the Yunnan Green Environment Development Foundation (YGF). YGF supports various programs within Yunnan centered around climate change, biodiversity conservation, sustainable community development, and water resource protection.
This tea will specifically support YGF’s Protection Network for Yunnan Snub Nosed Monkeys. Due to hunting, deforestation, and human development, these monkeys were at one point believed to be extinct. However, over the last several decades, their population has been restored to ~3000.
Still, the Yunnan Snub Nosed Monkey is considered one of the world’s most endangered primates. Native to Baima Snow Mountain near the Tibet border in the northwest of Yunnan, these monkeys migrate to lower altitudes during harsh winters to gather food.
Unfortunately, human encroachment has made this difficult for them, especially for the weaker newborn monkeys. This program aims to stabilize and support population growth of this endangered species by offering manual feeding (leaving food), observation, and conservation of their natural habitat.
You can learn more about the foundation here (English), as well as this specific program here (Chinese description with more details & pictures of these adorable creatures) and here (English, more of an overview). Due to the lack of a channel for cross-border donations, if you wish to donate further to this cause, please contact us and we will gladly facilitate.

//Taste : Vegetal notes, butter candy, wet rock, gentle floral breeze
//Body Sensation : Fresh sensation in the mouth, heartbeat increased, heightened senses
Interesting tea. I can wait to compare it with the other huangpian!

This tea is a mixed bag. It has a lot of that acidity/sourness I always mention when it comes to huang pian. In this case it’s overpowering and not very enjoyable. The tea has kind of a green tea/sencha profile which I haven’t experienced in other huang pian. Yes, even getting some seaweed/ocean notes. What stands out most about the tea is the very enjoyable aftertaste. It reminds me of greener teas and ’21 Oh Deer! sheng. Combined with the acidity it unfortunately also reminds me of some of the worst senchas I’ve had. I’m thinking that if this aftertaste fades with age then this tea will probably not have much to offer in the future. I need several sessions to form an opinion about the body feel of a tea but I did notice this one making me relaxed and energized.

Doce, suave e mineral.

Great value for a simple everyday type of tea. General vegetal aroma and soft gentle taste. This tea would be great to sip while you are working or reading due to the simplicity and gentleness. I would recommend brewing with a slightly high leaf to water ratio to really draw more flavor and texture out.
