Description
If you need something to warm your weary soul by the fire, then look no further. With a light spiced note, caramel sweetness and even a slight savoury quality, this sun dried (shaihong) Mengsong black tea pairs well with holiday snacks and festivities.
Unlike traditional black teas, shaihong/ sun dried black teas can be a little less up front with their fragrance at first, but continue to develop over time, making them suitable for storing up to 2 years or more. These teas also have a bit more to offer in terms of texture, mouthfeel, and aftertaste, as this tea beautifully demonstrates.
Although very much a budget friendly tea, this cake has plenty to offer while still fulfilling its duty as a solid daily drinker.

This is a solid mid-afternoon drinker. It has more of an earthy note than red berries, but those are present too, which I expect in sun-dried tea.
It has a pleasant bitterness and astringency, although lacking a bit in hui gan. The liquor is a beautiful copper, with a light aroma typical of black/red tea.

Rich and smooth with a nice mouthfeel. Not as drying as many black teas and has enough strength to be brewed half a dozen times or more.

Super comforting. An easy drinker!
//Smell : Re-hydrated dry raisins (super juicy and sweet), warm spices, hint of flowers, cake icing, zest, frozen concentrated fruit juice
//Texture: Thick texture, warming, mouth coating, cold on the teeth, heavy present in the cheeks, sticky
//Taste : Hot pepper sort of spiciness on the tip of the tongue, sweet syrup for fruit cake, broth
//Body sensation: Slow the minds, simple happiness, nice comforting warmth
