Description
Never the prettiest leaves, nor most expensive Dancong on offer, this Dancong huangpian always earns a spot by way being a high performer on a budget.
Similar to puer, this huangpian Dancong consists of the older leaves that are sorted from the tea during production, largely for appearance purposes. Despite not making the final cut, these leaves have plenty to offer, with a honey-like sweetness and plenty of florals.
As this tea is a blend of the sorted leaves from multiple varietals, the exact composition is difficult to say, but we suspect there’s a healthy amount of Milanxiang in there.
While this is a solid daily drinker as it is, close your eyes and it could easily beat many regular Dancong productions that come in at a higher price.
Please note that the 250g size does not include a tin.
$0.10-0.15/gram
We recommend brewing this tea using Chaozhou style gongfu brewing. Here’s how it’s done:
For something different, you can also try cold brewing:

It’s really nice, especially for how affordable it is. It’s comforting aromas of chocolatey grains start you off on the right path. The palate shows notes of deep honeyed florals, dusty autumn leaves, and a nice minerality.

Great Dancong, especially for something very affordable. Quite a lot of stems with the leaves, but it is expected with huangpian. The flavour is deeply floral, orchid with some honey. Great for both gong fu and grandpa style.
