I really enjoy Trade Secret as a raw Puer for studying since it gives you a really nice body feeling and has a long lasting taste. You can easily make ten or more steeps with it.

There’s something on the scent of this one. It’s a solid shou but theres something lurking in it that I haven’t found in others that makes it really unique. Not in a large in your face way but the kind that keeps you craving it. Half way to cream, half way to caramel, half way to that weird dance of flaviurs under cola. Not close to any of them but it reminds me of them all.

Aside from the je ne sais quoi qualities the tea is clean, brews like ink, carves its flavour into my tongue and seems to hold a good couple of steeps in it.

Great Dancong, especially for something very affordable. Quite a lot of stems with the leaves, but it is expected with huangpian. The flavour is deeply floral, orchid with some honey. Great for both gong fu and grandpa style.

It smells amazing and has crispness, or something similar to that which you would find in cold apples, kiwis, or stonefruit, that I adore. For as long as this is available I’m going to try have a tin of it.

The entire experience of this tea is enlightening. The dry aroma is rich with notes of sweet potato and brown sugar. Wet leaf has the same aromas, but revealing red bean paste. Palate is nice and silky with a nice weight to it. Notes of sweet potato, brown sugar, red bean paste, hints of cinnamon, and toasty caramel bread. It’s so good and I’m kicking myself for only getting 15g. Long lasting sweetness and velvety/oily texture.

I love what Bitterleaf puts out in general, but I truly think they put out some of the best black teas around.

Lovely tea to get the day started with its notes of bright honeyed florals, grains, and light oaky notes. An interesting note I randomly got on the nose a few times was something along the lines of Luxardo Maraschino liqueur? Overall, an engaging tea that’s affordable, delicious, and crushable.

Perfect Mid-cost Dancong.
The description on this tea is VERY accurate, Sugar Rave doesn’t have the intense aroma like some of its cousins for the year, and neither is it so thick or full of flavor in the soup, but what it has in spades is Balance. Like a dancer on a slackline, perfectly poised in between sweetness, almond-like tannins, and subtle charcoal smells. This one is my pick from the whites this year. You wont be disappointed by this one!
